Re:Sound - Education

"Paul's affable, yet professional, manner make him an invaluable person to communicate effectively to students.  With his extensive and varied experience in recording and editing music of many different styles his input is always valued by the students."  Ben Burrows, Programme Leader - Music Production, University of York St John

We have a strong in belief in supporting education in music and encouraging new potential. Paul has recently managed a one day event for Yorkshire Young Musicians. 77 children aged 9 – 17 learnt about recording techniques through a series of workshops, and have a CD of their various recordings as a result.

We have been involved with the York ISSP (Independent and State Schools Partnerships), which bring together gifted and talented children from across the city to work on extra curricular activities. In this case the children compose their own music, and we explore different ways to perform and record it.

We are currently exploring ideas for 3D sound, using multiple loudspeakers. This could be applicable to many spaces, an example being art galleries, where a sound world can be created which complements the pictures on display.

Paul delivers lectures, seminars and tutorials at Leeds College of Music on the Music Production (BA) course. He also taught on the Sound Design for Film and TV course.

Paul has taught A level Music Technology in York since 2005.
