Paul Baily

I have been passionate about music for as long as I can remember and have had the amazing good fortune to spend my entire career to date working in music production.

My adventure began at BBC Radio York in 1985 – still recording and editing on analogue tape in those days – and was quickly followed by a move to Abbey Road Studios in London in 1986 as an engineer.  From 1994 I was Head of Classical Post Production.

In 2000 I moved to North Yorkshire and set up Re:Sound.  Since that time I have made many acclaimed new recordings on location throughout the UK and abroad, as well as continuing to remaster famous early recordings going back to the days of 78rpm records, several of which have received Gramophone and Midem awards.

Since 2022 I have served as Chairman of Music Preserved, a charity dedicated to the promotion and preservation of wonderful live performances by many major classical artists of the 20th Century.

“I’ve worked with Paul Baily for over 20 years and his huge experience, great attention to detail, technical mastery and above all great ears and attitude have meant highly successful projects together.” Stephen Johns, Producer and former Artistic Director, Royal College of Music.
